Ciara // Sweat [Feat. 2 Chainz]

I’ve been into Ciara since she popped up on the scene, but I couldn’t help but lose interest in her around the time “Basic Instinct” was released. Maybe it was the fact that it was a sub-par album or the lack of a UK campaign - but whatever the reason was, not even an impressive set of singles could save that project.

Now Cici’s back on a new record label, with a new single off her upcoming fifth album “One Woman Army”. Georgia native 2 Chainz features on “Sweat”, which sees Ciara back in full form with a hot urban club banger. And it’s just as well too, as Ciara has always shone on her uptempo numbers. With heavy bass drops, hollow drum snares and pulsating synths, the track sounds like a cross between “Ride” and something along the lines of “Work” or “Gimmie Dat”. It’s nothing revolutionary, but it’s a good song nonetheless and does the job of drawing in a pop audience, adding to Ciara’s urban appeal.

Things could go bottom up from here on, but as for now this track is a very good start to Ciara’s one woman army. With support from LA on Epic Records, hopefully we’ll see a higher quantity of dance driven performances and music videos this time around.
