Dr. Dre // I Need A Doctor [Feat. Eminem & Skylar Grey]
'I Need A Doctor' is the first official single from Dre's long awaited 'Detox' project, after urban single 'Kush', which featured none other than Akon and Snoop Dogg.
'I Need A Doctor' sounded like a hit back in November, when a rough cut leaked, and now that the mastered version is out I'm sure of it. Dre teams up with protege Eminem 11 years after 'Forgot About Dre' was released on this Alex da Kid produced track. The track features enigmatic songwriter of the moment Skylar Grey on the chorus of this track, which may be one of Alex da Kid's most atmospheric productions yet with it's bleeping sounds adding to the clinical feel of the song. This song of mammoth proportions is set for release on US Itunes on February 1, so give it a spin.

Amy Winehouse’s ex-roommate Neon Hitch has been making quite a bit of buzz for a while on the net and is finally ready to release her debut single ‘Get Over U’. The Sia penned and Benny Blanco produced track is a big emotional affair as Ms. Hitch (yes that is her real name!) sings over a pulsating electronic beat. This deserves to be big….so check it out!
With her debut single ‘On My Own’ already being one of my favourite songs from the last few months, Yasmin sure seems like one of 2011’s hottest new artists.
This 21 year old part Iranian beauty is one of the most sought after Hip-Hop DJ’s in the UK, and it’s not hard to see why if her mixtapes are anything to go by. Becoming a singer-songwriter was the next step for Yasmin. She’s managed to find her own niche in the market with her 90’s R&B melodies combined with a heavy early 90’s trip-hop sound, which is no surprise considering she claims that Massive Attack have been such an influence to her.
'Finish Line', which was written with UK producer/singer 'Labrinth' is a drum driven song, laden with synths and violins, giving it a definite old school feel. Yet, 'Finish Line' still manages to sound very current as it stands out from the pop by numbers electro crowd. Check it out, you won't regret it.
Avril is finally back with the first single from her highly anticipated fourth album ‘Goodbye Lullaby’. ‘What The Hell’ is a catchy pop-rock number with a distinct “early 50s girl-group feel”, which is definitely felt throughout the song, making it more than just another pop-rock song.
Lyrically and musically the song is definitely similar to ‘Girlfriend’, in contrast to the rawer, more organic feel of the rest of the album. Nevertheless this is a perfect way to start 2011, with ‘What The Hell’ being a highlight of the year already. Get the free download off Avril’s facebook while you can…
